On January 12 and January 14, the New Hampshire House Ways and Means Committee will be holding hearings on three short-term rental (STR) bills that would potentially impact your ability to host: HB1068; HB1580; and HB1707. Itâs important that dedicated hosts like you urge lawmakers to vote against these bills.Â
Â
We encourage you to attend the hearings and share your story and share how home-sharing benefits you and the rest of the community.

Â
Â
HB1580, being heard on January 12, would assess a surcharge on the assessed market value of any non-primary residence valued over $500,000, potentially making it too expensive to continue hosting.Â
Â
HB1707, being heard on January 12, would assess an additional tax on unoccupied properties. The bill would double ownersâ taxes, requiring payment of equal amounts of taxes to the municipality and the state.Â
Â
HB1068, being heard on January 14, makes unnecessary and confusing changes to the definition of âhotelsâ to include STRs, which are already subject to meals and rooms taxes.

Your input is crucial to protect property rights, help preserve your ability to earn important extra income, provide an alternative accommodation option for visitors to New Hampshire and extend the benefits of healthy tourism to small businesses in your community.
